A silent rally to show solidarity with the Christians in strife-torn Manipur was held in Nongpoh today.
Organised by the Religious Conference of India, Ri Bhoi Zone a meeting was also held prior to the rally in which speakers expressed concern over the situation in Manipur that have affected the lives of countless innocent people.
They also highlighted the widespread destruction to innumerable churches, properties and human settlements and demanded severe punishment for those responsible for such inhuman acts.
The church leaders also sent a message of solidarity to the Christian community in Manipur, assuring them of their support.
Furthermore, they urged the Manipur government to take immediate action against the culprits involved in the destruction of churches and schools, as well as those responsible for the harassment of the Christian community.
“The silent rally organized in Nongpoh stands as a poignant symbol of unity and determination against religious discrimination and violence. As the state of Manipur grapples with these unsettling incidents, the rallying cry for justice and protection of religious freedom continues to resonate among the Christian community and concerned citizens alike,” the organisers said.
