Shopping malls will be allowed to reopen in staggered fashion from Monday in Shillong, as part of relaxations to Covid-19 restrictions.
For those malls and shopping complexes under Sadar police station limits that have fewer than 20 shops, a schedule has been drawn up by the Deputy Commissioner wherein those marked A and C can open on Monday, B and E on Tuesday, D and F on Wednesday, A and C on Thursday, B and E on Friday and D and F on Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
For standalone shops in the same area, those marked A and C can open on Monday, B and D on Tuesday, A and C on Wednesday, B and D on Thursday, A and C on Friday and B and D on Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
For shopping malls and complexes with more than 20 shops, these will open at 30 percent strength but a detailed plan of regulation is to be prepared by the Mall/Market Committee/Association concerned and submitted along with vaccination status of shopkeepers and staff, inspected by the Incident Commander/Magistrate and approved by the DC’s office prior to opening.
Meanwhile, tea shops will be allowed to reopen as well from Wednesday, but only to offer takeaway service. They must apply to the Incident Commander concerned and will be permitted to reopen on due satisfaction and recommendation of the IC on compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs). As in the case of restaurants, cafes, etc, no dine-in will be permitted.
Shops under Laitumkhrah and Laban police stations are allowed to operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 3pm. Those under Rynjah police station and Mawpat block are allowed to operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 4pm. Those under Pasteur beat house, Lumdiengjri and Mawlai police stations and Mawlai and Mylliem blocks can open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.
Salons, spas, barber-shops, cyber-cafes, cinemas, gyms, clubs, teer counters, etc. will remain closed.
Shops and complexes in commercial areas of Police Bazar and adjoining areas, Mawlonghat and Anjalee will be regulated via separate order. Shops in Iewduh and areas under the Syiem of Hima Mylliem will be regulated via separate order.
Hawkers and vendors will be regulated and sit only in spaces earmarked by the Incident Commander, Zone-III (Sadar PS) and as per arrangement and regulation made. They shall clearly indicate their vaccination status.
In rural areas of the district, essential and non-essential businesses are allowed to open four times a week as per the regulated arrangements to be made by the Sub-Divisional Officer and the Block Development Officers concerned in consultation with the Covid committees.
