An oxygen generation plant will be ready for commission within the next 24 hours at Shillong Civil Hospital, it was informed today.
The plant is capable of producing 270 litres per minute of oxygen, which can supply a minimum of 25 beds with high-flow O2. Around 98 percent work, including installation, has been completed.
Today afternoon, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inspected the work at the hospital. He also held a review meeting there and thanked the doctors, nurses and staff for their dedicated and concerted service towards the citizens of Meghalaya.
Once the plant is commissioned, oxygen cylinders will be freed up for other hospitals, it is expected.
Sangma informed that all efforts are being made by the government to ensure that sufficient management and control measures are taken in the 11 districts, which each have a dedicated Covid-19 management system.
