Three new facilities were inaugurated at Shillong Civil Hospital today – a biological waste management system, a 10-bed geriatric ward and oxygen generation plant.
These were all inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister James PK Sangma.
The minister appreciated the hard work and dedication of the hospital staff and said that Shillong Civil Hospital has “set a high benchmark” for other district hospitals to match.
Principal Secretary Sampath Kumar, meanwhile, informed that the cancer wing at the hospital is fully functioning now, adding that Shillong Civil Hospital could, with “hard work and the right attitude” be upgraded to a super specialty hospital in the years to come.
He also lauded the staff for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and enthusiasm shown in “improving the delivery service” at the hospital.
