Four Shillong bikers secured podium positions at the National MRF Supercross in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, recently.
Supercross is a variant of motocross that involves off-road motorbikes on a constructed dirt track consisting of jumps and other obstacles.
A release today said that motocross is recognised by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, which runs motorsport in the country, and that the riders need sponsorship and/or financial assistance to keep going in their chosen discipline.
Banteilang Jyrwa, riding an Apache RTR, took first place in the Class 2 Novice 4-stroke 260cc event, while Anthony Lyngdoh, on a Hero Impulse, came third.
In the Class 6 Private Expert 4-stroke up to 260cc event, Jayden Dame Nongkhlaw finished second, with Darren Damanbha Kharkongor third. Both rode on Hero Impulses.
Nongkhlaw also came second in the Class 8 Junior SX up to 250cc event on his Hero Impulse.
