Shillong, Dec 15: Relocation of the roadside vendors of Laitumkhrah will be completed by the first week of January 2026.
This was informed by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) in the affidavit filed before the division bench of Meghalaya High Court.
According to the SMB, out of 43 claims of vendors operating in Laitumkhrah, 14 have been included in the list prepared by Provisional Town Vending Committee (PTVC) and the remaining 29 were called for hearing out of which 15 were found to be genuine and their names have been recommended to the PTVC for necessary action.
The PTVC has decided to finalise the list of the vendors to be shifted to the designated vending zones notified by the State government.
The next High Court hearing on the matter will be held on January 28, 2026 during which the SMB will file another affidavit explaining the action taken regarding the shifting of the roadside vendors based on the list prepared by the PTVC.
