Senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Manjunatha C passed away today afternoon here following cardiac arrest.
Manjunatha is currently the Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. He is also the chairman of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.
According to sources, the IFS officer had a sudden heart attack at his official residence at Forest Colony, Lawmali.
He was immediately rushed to Woodland Hospital where he died.
Manjunatha lives alone at his residence here. His wife was at his native place in Karnataka.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in his Facebook post has condoled the death of Manjunatha.
“Manju was a quiet and efficient officer with exemplary commitment to every department he handled and took on ever task with a smile. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace,” Sangma said.
