The general meeting of the Pyndengumiong unit of the Seng Kur Warjri was held on Saturday to discuss various social welfare activities for the residents of the Warjri clan.
The unit comprises around nine villages and 700 inhabitants and is part of the Mairang circle, which includes the Pyndeng Nongbri and Manai units. The meeting also elected the new office bearers for a two-year tenure and the induction of the 132nd unit of Seng Kur Warjri was conducted by the general secretary of the central body, Sunshine Warjri in the presence of president George A Warjri and few senior leaders.
The newly elected office bearers of the Pyndengumiong unit are president Watbor Warjri, vice-president Bekshar Warjri and John Genesis Warjri, general secretary Alexander R Warjri, treasurer Giman Warjri and around 20 executive members including the representative from the nine villages of Dong Bir, Dong Gate, Sangshong, Mawsawa, Langstiehrim, Umwiehsup, Block, Lummaralong and Lumiew.
The general meeting resolved to grant welfare donations to the distressed clan members on the occasion of the death and suffering of any kinfolk and to make a monthly subscription from every resident to be collected by the village representative and supervised by the executive members. Further, the meeting also decided to mobilise participation and support to the golden jubilee celebration of the Seng Kur Warjri, slated to be held on December 12, 2023 at Thynroit village in East Khasi Hills.
