Editor,
Not that “divisive force” comprising Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad, or Acharya Narendra Dev; rather those who are championing the rendition of Vande Mataram in full are actually sowing seeds of further division of India instead of drawing lessons from history i.e. the bloody partition which was nothing but a result of communal hatred that the illustrious enlightened personalities tried their level best to prevent by adopting only the initial stanzas so as to ensure peace unity and accommodation of the sentiments of all sections of the diverse Indian society.
Today those who are challenging that most rational humane decision actually form the real challenge for India and national integrity.
It has become crystal clear that the actual reason behind this zealous sponsor of Vande Mataram (otherwise one of the greatest musical creation in the history of India and written by the utmost secular humanitarian Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay) by the merchants of hatred is nothing but the latest communal antic to invoke religious polarisation and Islamophobia (their only trumpcard) so as to reap electoral dividend! And to pursue such a parochial ugly goal, if even the Tagores, Netajis (along with that “eternal bete noire Nehru) needs to be maligned in crudest of fashion possible, so be it!
The ever-increasing audacity of the saffronites—with latest target being Tagore (branded “stooge” of the British for writing ‘Jana Gana Mana’ to “please the imperialist monarch” with rendition of his ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ an “Anti-national” act )—is to be seen to be believed!
