South West Khasi Hills Additional District Magistrate S.C. Laloo has imposed Section 144 CrPC, prohibiting the overloading of trucks along from Ranikor-Nongnah-Mawkyrwat (portion Mawmerang to Khatphra) road.
Laloo in a statement today said any overloaded trucks (carrying load beyond the permissible load limit not exceeding nine metric tons) are not allowed to ply through the road.
He said overloading has caused tremendous and deplorable damage to the road condition and weak wooden bridge, especially during the monsoon in that area, causing grave risk to the life and property of the commuters plying through the road.
