The East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner has ordered restriction in seating capacity of passengers in both private and commercial vehicles in the district.
The order said this is done to prevent and contain the spread of the Coronavirus in the interest of public health.
The seating capacity for five-seater passenger vehicles is three excluding the driver, for all seven and seven plus seater passenger vehicles, the seating capacity should be five excluding the driver. The number of passengers for local taxi (regional) is three excluding the driver, whereas, for three wheelers (auto rickshaw) two passengers excluding the driver. The maximum capacity for a bus should not exceed 50 per cent.
The Deputy Commissioner has also directed all the occupants/ travellers to strictly adhere to the SOPs and advisories issued by the government.
