Shillong, Jan 29: The State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya has invited project proposals for the year 2025–26 under the programme “Science & Technology for Socio-Economic Benefit in Meghalaya.”
The initiative aims to support short-term (6-months) science-related projects or research in the form of applied or action research projects which offer practical, science-based solutions to address socio-economic challenges in the state and generate tangible benefits forlocal communities.
Proposals are invited from school students, college students (UG/PG), research scholars and individuals or groups under the open category including grassroots innovators and NGOs. Financial assistance of up to ₹20,000 for school students, ₹1.5 lakh for college students, ₹2 lakh for research scholars and ₹1 lakh for the open category will be provided.
The projects may focus on areas such as agriculture and life sciences, environment, health and hygiene, digital and technological innovation, engineering solutions, traditional knowledge validation, STEM-based livelihoods, disaster communication, and ecological restoration among others.
All proposals will be evaluated by an Expert Committee based on relevance, scientific merit, feasibility and potential socio-economic impact. Selected applicants will be required to make a presentation before final approval.
