The president of the Haripur Namabilla HS School, Jamail Hoque, has filed a written complaint with the DSEO of West Garo Hills against the secretary, Abdur Rashid, accusing the latter of illegal acts.
In the complaint filed yesterday, Hoque stated that Rashid had called two managing committee (MC) meetings on June 7 and 16 where he resolved to promote Hadisul Islam and Hozrot Ali as principal and vice-principal respectively after the demise of the incumbents, Amzad Hussain and Miraul Islam Mondal.
However, the president of the SMC objected to the move as it bypassed senior teachers of the school.
“Both these teachers are juniors and when we raised our objections to this illegal promotion, the secretary showed his muscle power and forced us to sign on the dotted lines. This was done by him through political connections and money. We had to agree to his every wish,” said Hoque.
The president added that prior to the meeting this month of the SMC, no meeting was called in more than a year in the term of the secretary, Rashid.
Hoque, in his complaint, asked the DSEO to not approve the resolutions made on June 7 as the same was done under duress. He also asked for the powers of the secretary to be seized in the interest of all.
Interestingly another complaint was earlier made to the district school authorities, the complainants had alleged that Rashid had been given the post of secretary forcefully in 2020 when the then DSEO, CJ Sangma, had called them to the office and asked them to sign on the recommendation letter of Rashid.
The move came after an order from the DSEL after the term of the former secretary, Golam Hashan was terminated.
