Residents of Mawsmai, in the 11th Mile area, Jorabat and inpatients at North East Cancer Hospital experienced a scare last night after a transformer caught fire in the neighbourhood.
No one was injured in the incident, however. The transformer is located directly in front of the hospital entrance.
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. Known information puts the fire at around 12:30am on Saturday.
Witnesses immediately informed the Guwahati fire service, who rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control and, after a few hours of continuous efforts, the fire was doused.
Jorabat police are investigating.
