The main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) was closed for a day today after 10 of its staff tested positive for Covid-19, the Health Department informed.
Out of 89 staff whose swab samples were sent for testing, 10 tested positive for the virus. The positive patients have been asked to quarantine at home.
Following the detection of the Covid cases, East Khasi Hills District Magistrate Isawanda Laloo directed the branch to remain closed today for complete sanitization.
The branch will reopen tomorrow but only for essential banking services on Tuesday and Wednesday, with no public transactions allowed.
