Khliehriat, Oct 1: The Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee in Khliehriat today marked its Golden Jubilee with vibrant festivities as devotees offered prayers to the milestone event.
Members of the committee celebrated the occasion with a cake cutting ceremony in the presence of President Saibol Das, Secretary Rajesh Lyngdoh, Rakhal Dev Nath, Dharmindre Kumar and others.
A performance by Bipasa Musical Group from Kolkata created a glittering atmosphere.
Lyngdoh said in the earlier days, prior to the formation of the committee in 1975, devotees had to go to Nartiang to offer prayers to Durga. He appreciated the contribution of the community in fostering peace and coexistence.
