Santa Mary Shylla, the Chairperson of the Assembly Committee on Empowerment of Women, visited Langtor village in Eastern West Khasi Hills today to express solidarity and offer condolences to the family and relatives of the late Darisha Lyngdoh and her 2-month-old infant, who tragically lost their lives.
The bodies of Lyngdoh and her infant were discovered at a water collection site in Kynshi village, Langtor, on March 2, 2025. The mother and child had gone missing the day before.
As part of the visit, Shylla, accompanied by other members of the committee, visited the site where the incident took place. Following this, the delegation proceeded to Mairang police station, where they held discussions with the Additional Superintendent of Police, Pyrkhatlang Suchiang, and the officer-in-charge to review the status and progress of the ongoing investigation.
Shylla was joined by fellow committee members Matthew Beyondstar Kurbah, Adelbert Nongrum and Brightstarwell Marbaniang. The Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills, Anita Kharpor, police personnel, the Sordar of Langtor and members of the local community were also present during the visit.
