With the aim of trying to understand the complexity of inter-state border disputes and their consequences and to suggest constructive solutions, Sankardev College, Shillong, organized a two-day national seminar on the theme ‘Interrogating the Inter-State Border Disputes in Contemporary North-East India’.
The seminar, which ended today, was organised by the Departments of History and Political Science and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research-North Eastern Regional Centre (ICSSR-NERC).
Shillong MP Vincent Pala was the chief guest during the inaugural programme and Prof Sajal Nag, professor of modern and contemporary history at Assam Central University in Silchar, delivered the keynote address.
Academics from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Delhi University, Gauhati University, Centre for Land Welfare Studies in New Delhi, Synod College and the Government T Romana College in Aizawl.
In addition, paper presenters included scholars from different universities of the North East who are engaged in research work on inter-state border disputes. The seminar was held in blended mode and was attended online by participants from different parts of the North East and the country.
