The Disaster Management Committee and Economics Department in collaboration with the NSS and NCC units of Sankardev College organised an awareness programme on disaster management at the college auditorium here on Friday.
Molvareen Langstieh, Assistant Director, OM Cell, MATI, Shillong, and Silma Suting, Counselor, District Child Protection Officer, Shillong, Evankor K Ryndem, Junior Cooperative Officer, and P Deb, Organiser, Indian Red Cross Society, jointly delivered lectures and presentations on coping mechanisms as well as techniques to strengthen the body and mind of the youth in calamities.
They also demonstrated basic techniques on psychosocial care where the students were sensitised on attributes of compassion, active listening and sharing.
EFP Lyngdoh, the college Principal, urged the students to take note of all the techniques taught and to apply them accordingly. She congratulated all the participants for the meaningful programme held.
