South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai conducted an inspection of ongoing construction projects within his constituency on Saturday.
These projects included widening, metalling and black-topping of the Public Works Department road and public footpath from the main entrance of Sankar Dev College in Bishnupur up to Lawsohtun Road, Kench’s Trace. These were sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1.43 crore.
Thereafter, a joint inspection was also conducted for the ongoing construction of municipal market-cum-shopping complex at Kench’s Trace Road, Bishnupur, sanctioned for Rs 2.39 crore and ongoing construction of a working women’s hostel-cum-auditorium at Rilbong, being built at an estimated cost of Rs 4.50 crore.
The MLA was accompanied by the Executive Engineer of PWD (Roads), C Kharmudai, and others.
Shullai expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to all the members of Srimantha Sankardev Cultural Centre for parting off their huge land free of cost for construction of the PWD motorable road and also to the Revenue Department for allotting land free of cost to the Urban Affairs Department for construction of municipal market complex and to the Social Welfare Department for construction of the hostel.
