Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Sanbor Shullai met Union Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Parshottam Rupala in New Delhi on Friday.
Shullai expressed his sincere gratitude to the ministry for having rendered great support to the schemes of Rashtriya Gokul Mission and National Livestock Mission.
Shullai drew attention towards the centrally sponsored scheme of Livestock Health and Disease Control (LHDC). With regards to this scheme, Shullai said that during the last two years, Meghalaya has received funds against various components of the scheme. During the current fiscal year, the state has proposals to the tune of Rs 2,669.54 lakh for which he requested the ministry to help the state secure the funds.
The proposed amount for 2021-22 is mainly focused towards the components of establishment and strengthening of existing veterinary hospitals and dispensaries, assistance to states for control of animal diseases and classical swine fever control programme, three very important components for the state in terms of improving animal health and livestock population with a greater focus on far-flung and remote areas.
