Labour minister, Sanbor Shullai has assured domestic workers will be registered under the e-Shram, centralized database of unorganized workers and will ensure that the State government works towards their registration.
Shullai who attended a Labour Day function organised by the National Domestic Workers Movement Meghalaya Unit, Meghalaya unit today spoke about the benefits that domestic workers will avail by registering under e-Shram.
He said the e-Shram card benefits include financial support, social security scheme benefits, job ppportunity, Bhima Yojana Insurance cover.
Shullai applauded the effort of the central government for ensuring that all the unorganized workers benefit from e-Shram.
The programme was attended by programme coordinator, Evangeline Shangpliang, advocacy and lobbying coordinator, Wanpynhun Kharsyntiew, Sister Delina Francis, Laxmi Thapa, animator and team leader of the Greater Laban Domestic Union Neetu Gurung and members of the domestic workers union.
