For the first time since the lockdown was imposed, salons and beauty parlours are permitted to open subject to strict compliance to the protocols issued by Health and Family Welfare department.
The details of number of staff and vaccination status of all employees will have to be furnished.
In an order issued today, the East Khasi Hills administration while extending the containment said that the number of Covid-19 cases in the district is still very high and the positivity rate is over 10 per cent.
“Number of cases will be under close watch for and in the event that there is no respite or any upward trend in cases, restrictions will be continued to be enforced accordingly,” Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo said.
In the order, educational institutions are also allowed to open only for emergent administrative works but permission is necessary, the Deputy Commissioner said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also stated that there is laxity in complying to the protocols by the traders/farmers and public at Anjali Parking Lot, even after the government has made efforts to enable the farmers and traders to operate their business from the temporary space, with the objective of providing sufficient and spacious conditions for farmers to ply their trade and reduce the impact on their livelihoods.
Laloo said that it is seen the traders/farmers are not wearing masks or observing physical distancing with due diligence.
“Such irresponsible behaviours pose a threat and discomfort to the general public at large, especially with the current spike of Covid-19 cases in the district and the State as whole,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
Laloo has ordered that all traders/farmers and public should follow the protocols and anyone found not complying will not be allowed to operate their business.
She also stated that the traders/farmers should get vaccinated and any person who is not vaccinated should get themselves tested every ten days.
