Three employees’ unions of NEEPCO have merged into one union known as Registered Trade Union of NEEPCO (RTUN).
The merger took place at a day-long convention of NEEPCO Workers’ Union, NEEPCO Employees’ Union, and Federation of NEEPCO Employees’ Union held at NEEPCO Auditorium here yesterday.
The employees and workers from all parts of North East operating under NEEPCO participated in the convention of amalgamation of unions under Section 24 of Trade Union Act.
Former Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner Subhash Kumar Roy attended the convention of amalgamation of unions as an independent observer.
The convention also elected Kanu Priya Purkystha as the chairman of RTUN, Pinaki Das as president, Joram Tamin and Poresh Kumar Nath as working presidents, D S Kurbah and Likha Arki as vice presidents, Britul Gogoi and Amit Kumar Dey as joint general secretaries besides other office bearers.
The convention of RTUN was graced by Meghalaya cabinet minister A L Hek as the chief guest and Padma Shri awardee Patricia Mukhim as the guest of honour.
