Shillong, Aug 10: Cabinet minister Alexander Laloo Hek yesterday inaugurated the Loyola Block of St Xavier’s College at Umoid, South West Khasi Hills.
The building, constructed at a cost of Rs 11 crore, is expected to provide a boost to the educational infrastructure in the region. Hek lauded the college for its efforts in promoting the talents of youth and urged them to take up fields and subjects where they can excel.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including SWKH Deputy Commissioner B Mawlong, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang and college principal Fr Agustine Sunny.
During the programme, students who performed well in recent examinations were also felicitated.
