A Rs 1.43 crore project to widen an existing Public Works Department Road around Sankar Dev College in Bishnupur here was launched by South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai yesterday.
Shullai laid the foundation stone for the project, which, it is hoped, will ease the flow of traffic and increase the safety of students and the residents of Bishnupur, Kench’s Trace and Lawsohtun. The project will be funded through the PWD’s general scheme.
Speaking at the function, Shullai assured the public that the project will begin immediately and without any delay.
He also expressed his thanks to the members of the Srimantha Sankar Dev Culture Centre, which parted with the land for the project free of cost.
