RR Colony has drawn plaudits for achieving vaccinating 99.7 percent of adults in the neighbourhood against Covid-19.
Yesterday, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, and Incident Commander of Zone 5, Monica Shira Kshir, expressed their appreciation for the R&R Colony Welfare Society and Community Covid Management Team of the locality for the near-total vaccination of those 18 and above.
A letter of appreciation and certificate were presented by the DC.
The CCMT and R&R Colony Welfare Society also expressed their gratitude to Laloo for her encouragement and thanked the medical officials, magistrate, block officials and police for their help.
Meanwhile, the office of the Deputy Commissioner in press release said a number of localities in Shillong City have undertaken detailed surveys to determine the exact vaccination coverage in their locality, so that no one is missed out. Such surveys through door-to-door visits and telephonic enquiries for each category (18+, 45+) have been done under the guidance of the Incident Commanders, EMs and Medical Officers, involving ASHAs, CCMTs and volunteers.
While acknowledging the work put especially by the Nongrim Hills Dorbar and RR Colony the Deputy Commissioner informed that at present, Nongrim Hills has five active cases and R R Colony has one.
“No deaths have been recorded in Nongrim Hills since May 26 (A 65 year old Male), while no deaths have been recorded in R.R. Colony since June 12 (an 82 year old Female),” the DC said.
