An online quiz was jointly organised by Rotary Club, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) yesterday on the occasion of International Youth Day.
Rotary Club Shillong president Monica Chanda presided over the inaugural session and said, “Young people embody the potential of a society and play a crucial role as key architects of the future of their communities, families and countries. Young people are also on the frontlines of political and social change.”
Prof Devesh Walia of NEHU’s Department of Geology and the Shillong chapter of ISCA said that the youth are essential leaders and partners in finding solutions to the issues faced by the world today.
The quiz was conducted by Shikhar Kumar and Vivek Kumar among the 250-plus registered participants from all over the country and the results were declared in the valedictory session by the dignitaries.
The test of brains had questions to promote the awareness about Covid-19 and help end vaccine hesitancy, as well as questions on Meghalaya and India’s 75th year of independence.
In his valedictory address, Walia emphasised that it is critical that policymakers of our country and the world develop and implement effective policies in the interest of young people, sustainable development and peace and asked the participants to come forward for Covid vaccination.
