After holding a protest rally a few days ago in the village of Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, another rally using motorcycles will be undertaken tomorrow, led by pressure groups as a show of protest against the participation of non-tribals in next month’s elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
A range of civil bodies in the Garo Hills region have continued their demand for a separate electoral roll that excludes all non-tribals to ensure that the GHADC is run only by the tribal populace.
Pressure groups have also called for a boycott of the April 12 polls over the issue.
A meeting-cum-rally in Rongjeng was held on March 12 over the same issue.
The rally tomorrow will be done across East Garo Hills and will begin at 9 am.
