The Joint Action Committee of Rangthong Area, comprising the Khasi Students Union, Local Taxi Owners & Drivers Association and representatives from various villages under Rangthong, has demanded the immediate repair of the deplorable roads at Mawkyrwat, Mawmerang and Rangthong.
The committee met the PWD (Roads) Executive Engineer, M Mawroh, today that the road is pockmarked with potholes and there is no drainage system, which makes life difficult for commuters as the monsoon worsens the situation.
Shnong Secretary of Rangthong, Kyntiewnam Syiemlieh, said that if the problem is not taken care of at the earliest, it will intensify.
The JAC had also urged the authorities to widen the narrower sections of road.
