About 1400 students of different Ramakrishna LP Schools of Khasi and Jaintia Hills today participated in the Play Day function held at Ïewthymmai in Khliehshnong, Sohra.
The event was organised by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra to celebrate physical education and holistic development through synchronised activities and cultural demonstrations.
Students showcase their talent through patriotic songs, dances reflecting Khasi traditions, and performances that celebrate Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage.
The event featured demonstrations of activities set to U Soso Tham’s U Khlur, thematic martial arts, and yoga.
Governor Changrashekhar H Vijayashankar who attended the event, paid floral tribute to the Holy Trinity and officially declared the festival open.
The Governor applauded the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, which has been serving the region for nearly a century. He said it continues to be a beacon of education, healthcare, and vocational training, positively impacting thousands of lives across Meghalaya.
Students of RKM LP School, Khliehshnong, Sohra was adjudged the best performer among all the 46 RKM LP Schools of Meghalaya.
During the event, fruit saplings from the Raj Bhavan were distributed to selected Ramakrishna Mission schools, emphasising the importance of environmental conservation and the role of students in fostering sustainability.
