Shillong, Aug 1: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Friday halted two-wheelers in various areas within the city to raise awareness about traffic rules and thereby promote road safety.
In view of the rise in Motor Vehicle Act violations and various complaints from citizens, the awareness programme stressed on the importance of following the traffic rules and driving safely.
Riders were schooled on haphazard overtaking, reckless riding, using improper number plates and other violations.
The STP has appealed to all two-wheeler riders to follow traffic rules diligently by avoiding crossing the centre line while overtaking during traffic jams and to conform to the standards set for number plates with specific regulations regarding size, colour and font.
