The Ri-Bhoi Tourism and Environment Development Forum (RBTEDF) celebrated its 10th anniversary at a programme yesterday.
The forum was formed in 2012 with the aim to promote tourism while taking care of the environment in the district.
The celebration was observed at here with Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun the chief guest in the presence of Umsning MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong, Umsning MDC Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong, District Tourism Officer B Nongkynrih, Hima Khatar Lyngdoh leader Wanphrang Syiem and others.
The forum chairman, Plielad Tiewsoh highlighted the RBTEDF’s journey over the past decade in his speech. Sohtun praised the efforts of the forum in promoting tourism in Ri-Bhoi and congratulated all the members and leaders who were involved with it from the beginning to date.
He also urged the forum and local people of Ri-Bhoi to work together for the promotion of tourism in the district, with more effort needed so that, through tourism, more income for the local economy can be generated
