Nongpoh, Sep 18 : A teenager who saved four people from drowning in the Umiam River has been felicitated by the Dorbar Shnong of Umden Pyllun for his courageous act.
Wanlambok Rani, of Umden Arka, Ri-Bhoi, had, without hesitation, rescued the four on August 12.
Rani was honoured by the Dorbar Shnong in the presence of local MLA George B Lyngdoh and local MDC RR Kharbuki at Step Up Secondary School, Umden.
“This young, brave heart has made the state proud and we have thus joined together in celebrating his bravery through this small gesture,” Lyngdoh said, adding that he deserves the National Bravery Award and hoped the state government would recommend him for it.
A memento and certificate of appreciation were presented to Rani.
