Ri-Bhoi hosted the Indian Kayaking Canoeing Association selection trials at the Whitewater Village in Umtham, on Saturday and Sunday.
The trials are to form the Indian team for the 2024 Canoe Slalom World Cup and Kayak Cross events, which act as qualifiers for this summer’s Olympic Games.
Around 25 athletes from around the country took part, including strong contingents from Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, a press release stated today.
Elizabeth Vincent took first place in the Kayak Cross women’s event, while she was third in the K1 women’s category.
In the K1 men’s category, Batskhem Nongbak finished in sixth, Pynshngaiñ Kurbah eighth and Manbhalang Kharkrang ninth. In the C1 men’s category, Indra Sharma from Meghalaya came sixth.
