Armed miscreants yesterday night kidnapped the headman of a border village in Ri-Bhoi district.
A group of five miscreants armed with a pistol and daggers barged into the house of Manason Doloi (45) who is the Sordar of Warmawsaw village at around 10 pm yesterday.
According the victim’s brother Comfort Doloi, the miscreants suspected to be from Assam tied Manason, his wife and children with a rope and searched for papers and documents in the house for around half an hour.
“Since they spoke in Hindi, we suspected them to be from Assam,” Comfort said.
He also informed that the miscreants also threatened the wife and children of dire consequences if they shouted for help.
Later, they dragged Manason and his whereabouts is not known till date.
The police were immediately informed about the incident. An FIR was also filed by Manason’s wife.
