Principal of Modern Higher Secondary School, Lumsohpieng Bhoirymbong, Longsing Bey, received an award by the International Education Awards Foundation in New Delhi last week.
“Education is the key to success in life for all and it is a priceless possession for upliftment of the society,” Bey said.
He also expressed his happiness to serve society More than 200 pupils taught by his school are in good positions as teachers, businessmen, doctors, engineers, lawyers and nurses.
Through his Bey Educational Society, 14 different schools have been created for thousands of students over the 36 years he has been involved in the education sector. Around 200 students have been orphans that he has supported directly.
Bey, who had a humble background himself, has been recognised for his teaching efforts in the past, including by the government of Meghalaya.
