The Ri-Bhoi Dorbar today held an executive committee meeting where it extended its gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for the upgrade of Western Ri-Bhoi administrative unit to the status of civil sub-division.
Addressing reporters, Ri-Bhoi Dorbar leader RB Shadap said that various pending demands were also discussed.
The area around Patharkhmah will be upgraded to a civil sub-division on November 24, Sangma had announced earlier.
“This is a long pending demand of the Ri-Bhoi Dorbar and due to collective effort, the demand was fulfilled and the credit goes to the state government,” Shadap said.
However, the other demands include civil sub-division status for Umsning and Eastern Ri-Bhoi and formation of Community and Rural Development Block offices for Umden Nongtluh and Mawhati.
