Ri-Bhoi police rescued a teenage girl who had been kidnapped and spirited into neighbouring Assam, it was announced today.
The 14-year-old was abducted on Saturday evening by the suspect, identified as one Ajay Patar (21), and was taken to Morigaon in Assam.
Acting on information, the police rescued the girl yesterday morning. Patar was arrested as well and brought back to Ri-Bhoi for questioning. The girl was returned to her family.
