Ri-Bhoi College will open a branch institution in Umden to cater to students of the northern part of the district, it was announced today.
The inauguration of Northern Ri-Bhoi College will take place in September but classes will be held prior to that at Nongtluh Higher Secondary School in Diwon as the academic session for 2021-22 has already begun.
Ri-Bhoi College was established in 1984 to help underprivileged students excel in their higher studies. It already has one branch college – Eastern Ri-Bhoi College – in Bhoirymbong.
President of the governing body of Ri-Bhoi College and veteran politician, DD Lapang, held a special meeting in Nongpoh today with members of the sub-committee of the governing body and Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Lapang said that a branch institute has been a dream of the people and of Ri-Bhoi College.
