Ri Bhoi celebrated the Pynneh La Riti festival, which is part of the Shad Sajer, a well-known annual traditional dance in the district under the Hima Khadar Lyngdoh today with fanfare.
The festival was organised by the Hima Khadar Lyngdoh Confederation on Sports, Arts and Culture at Byrnihat football playground with an aim to preserve and revive the dance performed by their ancestors.
Various traditional dances like Shad Krut Lyngkha, Shad Rah Kynthei, Put Talwak and Put Muiñ were performed by local troupes at the festival.
MLA of Umsning, Jason S. Mawlong and Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun lauded the initiative taken by the organisation to preserve the culture of the Bhoi tribe and revive the traditional dances.
The festival was also attended by former Syiem of Hima Myliem, Laborius Syiem, Jirang MDC, Victor Rani and others
