Union Minister of State Power and Heavy Industries, Krishan Pal Gurjar today paid a visit to Ri-Bhoi today to review the progress of various projects under ‘aspirational districts’.
Ri-Bhoi is one of the 115 districts in the country where NITI Aayog aims to improve the socio-economic status of those listed in the Transformation of Aspirational Districts Programme.
Gurjar held a meeting on the performance indicators for schemes that were implemented in Ri-Bhoi under the programme. Top officials from the district were present at the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner office in Nongpoh.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Gurjar lauded the line departments of Ri-Bhoi for their performance and said that the district’s ranking among the other aspirational ones by standing at the fifth position is a pride for the State of Meghalaya.
He further informed that due to effective performance in various indicators Ri Bhoi was awarded with cash money of Rs. 1 crore and later Rs. 4 cores by NITI Aayog.
During his day-long visit, Gurjar also inspected the Health and Wellness Centre at Umsawnongkharai and Aganwadi Centre at Umdihar.
