Shillong, Sep 3: A monthly review meeting on rural development schemes and other convergence projects was conducted by the State Rural Employment Society – District Implementing Division (SRES-DID) in Ri Bhoi district.
The meeting was chaired by SRES-DID, DRDA, Nongpoh Project Director R. Brahma and attended by Block Development Officers (BDOs) along with their officers and staff from the Umsning, Umling, Jirang, and Bhoirymbong C&RD Blocks. Presentations were delivered by the respective BDOs and APOs. The Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) were also present during the meeting.
An in-depth discussion was held, particularly on the coordination of Anganwadi projects. It was decided that all CDPOs should closely coordinate with the respective BDOs to ensure proper implementation of the MGNREGA, PMAY-G, PMAAGY, Digital Libraries and ECDM and to avoid duplication of efforts, as similar initiatives are being implemented not only by the ECD or Social Welfare Department, but also under other schemes.
The meeting decided that all CDPOs and BDOs will jointly plan Anganwadi-related projects to avoid overlap and ensure comprehensive service delivery, strengthening monitoring of all schemes through regular field visits, MIS updation, and submission of block-wise performance reports, institutionalise convergence of schemes through the formation of Block Convergence Committees, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities and BDOs to ensure transparency and community participation in the selection and implementation of all projects.
Brahma emphasised the importance of integrated planning, effective coordination, and accountability in the implementation of rural development schemes.
He appreciated the efforts of all BDOs, the SRES-DID and SRES-BID team and urged them to take proactive steps to address gaps in service delivery. He reiterated that convergence is not merely a concept but a necessary strategy to optimize resources and maximize impact at the grassroots level.
The Project Director called upon all stakeholders—BDOs, CDPOs,—to work in close collaboration, strengthen field-level monitoring, and ensure that every scheme reaches its intended beneficiaries efficiently and transparently.
