The Meghalaya Retired College Teachers’ Association (MRCTA) held an online general meeting today wherein members discussed the chaos caused by students having to dispatch hard copies of their answer scripts of the online examinations conducted by North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
This resulted in two days of long queues of students at post offices where fears were expressed that the vast numbers could prove dangerous given the risks of spreading Covid-19.
“The members were very concerned and felt that the fallout from the crowding at the post offices in the city could have been very serious where the prescribed protocols for the pandemic were neglected, putting the students at the receiving end for no fault of their own,” a press release said today.
“Let all of us, as individuals and at the institutional level, be more responsible and work to lessen the hardships faced by the student community,” the release, signed by MRCTA General Secretary MN Bhattacharjee and President B Ingty, said.
