The Meghalaya Retired College Teachers Association (MRCTA) held its statutory conference here yesterday and elected its new executive council.
The conference, where pressing issues of retired teachers were discussed, was presided over by outgoing president B Ingty. Prof B Parthasarathy, general secretary of the All India Federation of Retired University and College Teachers’ Organisations, attended the conference and addressed the members, giving details of nationwide movements of retired teachers and also touching upon the “increasing dominance of private and corporate bodies in the sphere of education with gradual withdrawal of responsibilities by the governments from this sector taking shelter in NEP 2020,” a press release issued today stated.
The new president of the MRCTA is KD Ramsiej and the three vice-presidents are Rajya Sabha MP WR Kharlukhi, Suklin Syiem and PS Dkhar. The general secretary is H Syiem and joint secretaries TS Rajee and Louis Pyngrope. Swapan Kr Roy is the treasurer and there are a further seven executive members.
