Ancillary work on the Dwar Ksuid Bridge located on the Shillong Bypass has been completed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been entrusted with preparing for the opening of the bailey bridge, which has been constructed as a temporary replacement to the Dwar Ksuid Bridge, the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner said today.
The movement of mini-trucks, two axle buses and trucks, three axle and multi-axle vehicles are not permitted between 6 am and 6 pm up to March 23 from using the bridge as these “will create disturbance to the group who are engaged for launching of the bailey bridge.”
In addition, pedestrians are not allowed within 50 feet before and after the bridge and light motor vehicles are also not allowed to halt within 500 metres from the bridge on both sides.
