The State government has filed a detailed report before the division bench of Meghalaya High Court regarding the period when the work on the 39.5 km stretch of the road from Borkhat to Sonapur in East Jaiñtia Hills would commence.
In the report filed today, the government mentioned about the time to be taken for site clearance, earthwork, construction of side drains and cross drainage works, undertaking granular sub-base and base course work, protection works, bituminous works, bridge works and traffic signs and road appurtenances.
The report also revealed that to restore communication on the road, an 18-metre span Bailey bridge is being put up and the Bailey bridge will be completed for use by November 2022.
Though the State had earlier indicated that the notice to commence the work had been issued to the contractor who had been selected and the contractor had been given three months’ time to furnish a detailed project report, the date of commencement of construction had not been stated.
In view of the detailed reports filed previously and today and since it was fairly clear that the construction on the stretch would be completed within a reasonable time, the High Court today decided to dispose of the miscellaneous PIL filed by Kynjaimon Amse on the matter.
