Shillong, Apr 4: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) and its constituent institution, Pa Sangma International Medical College (PIMC), held an academic session featuring Dr. Yesmin Nureja, a distinguished consultant oncologist.
The event held today was aimed to prodive students and staff with valuable insights into the field of oncology.
Dr. Nureja engaged with the MBBS students of PIMC. During her session, she shared her extensive clinical experience in oncology, particularly focusing on cancer diagnosis and treatment protocols. The discussion emphasized radiation therapy, the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in cancer care, and the latest trends in oncology practice.
She stressed the critical importance of empathy, ethics, and evidence-based medicine when treating cancer patients. Her discussions extended beyond technical knowledge, highlighting how nursing staff plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centred care.
Following the student session, she also interacted with the nursing team at PIMC.
