The Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC) has allowed the plea of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) engineers and employees for amendment of their review petition challenging the special electricity tariff for industries off Byrnihat.
The MeECL engineers and accounts employees had on December 17, 2020 filed a review petition against the order passed by MSERC on October 19, 2020 that approved the special electricity tariff agreement between MeECL and Byrnihat Industries Association. The MeECL engineers and accounts employees had also urged MSERC to review the special tariff order.
However, before the final hearing of the case by MSERC, the MeECL engineers and accounts employees sought for amendment of their review petition on the ground that certain anomalies were found in the petition.
In an order passed on August 16, the MSERC said that in order to dispose of the case wholly, the proposed amendments moved by the MeECL engineers and accounts employees in their writ petition may help in just determination of the controversy between the parties.
“Accordingly, in the result, the applicants/petitioners (MeECL engineers and accounts employees) prayer for amendment is allowed for the end of justice,” the order said.
MSERC also allowed the MeECL and Byrnihat Industries Association to file rebuttal or objection if any against the amended portion of the review petition.
