The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) has filed an application under the Right to Information Act on the implementation of the Saubhagya Scheme in the district.
President of the organisation, Bipul Thangkhiew said they had sought information on the sanction amount of the scheme, name of beneficiaries and villages covered and households not electrified after the implementation of the scheme.
Besides, the RBYF had also sought information about the contractors/agency whom the work was allotted.
“We will wait for a reply as per the information we have sought and if there are any anomalies found in the implementation of the scheme we will not sit quiet,” he added.
Meanwhile, the RBYF has also demanded the state government to speed up construction of 132KV power station in the district.
“We don’t want any excuses from the government because the land of MeECL at Nongpoh is enough for the construction of the power station,” Thangkhiew said.
He said the matter was discussed with the state Power Minister and it is the duty of the government to fulfil the needs of people in Ri Bhoi.
